K-9 Olympaws offers fun filled “Doggy Olympics” for pets and owners.

Dogster is a great comprehensive site with lots of well organized information and good links to different dog breeds, behavior and training, etc.  This is one of the best all round sites on the web.

DogFriendly is similar to PetFriendly.ca in scope and purpose except with a US focus.  Lots of pet friendly travel info, and this site was named by Forbes as a Best of the Web site.  If you visit the site, notice that it has a section on off leash dog parks and even a section on dog friendly outdoor restaurants.

Dogpark.com is all about dog parks and as it says, “Off-Leash, On-Line.”  This is going to be a growing site.  Good section on dog park basics.

Dog eParks is a site that uses social networking tools to link people and pets together.

The Wikipedia page on Dog Parks has an amazing amount of reference links to explore.  You could spend a year just going through them all and checking them out.  A virtual encyclopedia, and a great use of the web.

Animal Aide of St. Thomas

Canada’s Guide to Dogs list of rescue organizations across Ontario.  Great source.

Animal Love Foundation (ALF) of London, Ontario asks why go to a breeder or pet store when you can adopt?  A registered non-profit organizations since 1991, they have assisted over 10,000 abandoned animals find homes.

Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) works with First Nations and rural communities to rescue, rehab, and re-home stray dogs and cats.

KisMutt Small Dog Rescue is based out of St. Mary’s.  They do extensive rescue work and have good information on their website.

Open Arms Pound Rescue out of Ohio facilitates the transportation of distressed animals to foster homes.  Many of these animals find their way to Canada through this worthy organization.

Small Paws Rescue has rescued over 8000 Bichons in the past 12 years.  Over 800 volunteers and 6000 members in 26 countries.

The Marin Humane Society in California is one of the most incredibly active humane societies in North America.

It is also home to Trish King, a Certified Pet Dog Trainer and Certified Dog Behavior Counselor.  She is also the author of Parenting Your Dog.  In these short videos (less than 10 min.) you can view Part 1 of Dog Introductions, a great series for anyone who visits dog parks.
